Four years ago, Sandy entered the Vaporized store in Galashiels determined to quit smoking for good. Since then he has gradually reduced the nicotine content in his vape and has quit smoking tobacco cigarettes altogether
Having tried different methods over the last 50 years, Sandy got some bad health news and knew he had to make a change. After pressure from his family he finally went into Vaporized to find out more about how to quit smoking, and four years later he hasn’t looked back.
“From the age of 17 I was smoking 20-30 a day – and it was a strong rolling tobacco I used.
“My biggest wake-up call was when I received some bad news about my health – I had to stop smoking to save my life, it was as simple as that.’’
“My wife and son suggested that I try vaping, and although it took me a while to get used to it, vaping has helped me kick my 53-year-old habit.’’
“I’ve never had a cigarette since the day I walked into Vaporized!”
When asked about what advice he would give others looking to quit smoking, he said:
“Focus on the positives, not stinking of cigarettes was the big one for me. I remember a month into vaping I met up with my daughter, she always gives me a cuddle when she sees me. Only this time she pulled away and said, ‘Dad I can’t believe it, you don’t smell like an ashtray!’ at this moment I knew I was on the right road.
“Thanks to vaping I’m now off nicotine altogether, it’s not easy if you are a long-time smoker but a damn sight easier than going cold turkey!”
