There has been a lot of conversation about the outbreak of respiratory disease in the US, which may have left you concerned when it comes to vaping. Following these recent stories in the US Media, Public Health England have once again reconfirmed their positive position on vaping.

"There is no situation where it would be better for your health to continue smoking rather than switching completely to vaping."

"All UK e-cigarette products are tightly regulated for quality and safety by @MHRAgovuk. It's important to use UK-regulated e-liquids and never risk vaping home-made or illicit e-liquids or adding substances, any of which could be harmful."

"Smoking kills thousands every year and creating a smoke-free generation is one of our top priorities. Vaping is a fraction of the risk of smoking and makes it much more likely you'll quit successfully than relying on willpower alone.
"The sooner you stop smoking completely the better."

It may be tempting to buy a liquid you see online for £1 or a deal that you have spotted on Facebook. Before purchasing anything, make sure that you are buying for a reputable vaping retailer. Dave on twitter may make cheap e-liquids, but where are they made? In an ISO rated cleanroom or a kitchen? Are they clearly labelled with ingredients? Do they have adequate warnings and safety seals intact? (No offence Dave!)

Do your research, check reviews and guides or pop into your local store.

Your health and wellbeing is not worth the price of buying an untested product.

So, what exactly is in VPZ e-liquids?

Often we are asked the question ‘What’s in this e-liquid’ or ‘What are the main ingredients in e-liquid?’ So today we will be looking over just that!

Generally speaking, all e-liquids contain three main base ingredients: VG (Vegetable Glycerine), PG (Propylene Glycol) and natural or artificial flavourings. Nicotine itself is an optional ingredient that does not need to be included in the base mixture if it is not desired.

You may not believe it but making e-liquid can be a long process! Just like Mr Kipling creating a new cake for sale, everything needs to be measured, tested and approved before sale. We only want the absolute best sitting on our shelves here at VPZ!

Every one of our in-house eliquids runs through a purpose built, 6,000 square foot ISO Class 7 & ISO Class 8 clean rooms. The production team work tirelessly to ensure that all e-liquids produced use only the finest, high quality ingredients.

Take a sneak peek at the facility below!

Three, is the magic number!

Now, let’s take a look at those main ingredients shall we!

Propylene Glycol (PG)

Propylene Glycol or PG is a synthetic organic compound, and is essentially there to help the whole liquid mix together properly. As it is flavourless it makes a great base for e-liquid as it will have little to no effect on the taste. The higher the amount of PG the thinner the liquid will become when mixed with VG. High PG e-liquids also provide minimal ‘cloud’ production. You’ll be happy to know that PG is also used as a food additive and preservative.

Vegetable Glycerine (VG)

Vegetable Glycerine or VG is an organic compound usually derived from; Palm, Soy, Coconut or Rapeseed oils. It is commonly found in foods, cosmetics and medicines. VG is there to give the e-liquid some thickness and smoothness, and also to help create that cloud of vapour that is produced.
Fun Fact : It’s pretty likely that you’ll have eaten, drank or used something that contains PG or VG. Maybe even in the last day or so, and you haven’t even realised!

Natural and Artificial Flavourings

All flavourings that we use are classed as GRAS, or “Generally Recognised As Safe” for human consumption. This is what gives the liquids their unique tastes; Bakery, Fruit, Tobacco, whatever it is that you are looking for, there is probably an e-liquid to suit your tastes!

Nicotine - Optional Ingredient

Nicotine is the part of the cigarette or e-cigarette that you’re actually addicted to. Nicotine on it’s own has been shown to be one of the least harmful parts of a cigarette. In basic terms, Nicotine first acts as a stimulant, then a mild relaxant. We offer our e-liquids in a range of different strengths to suit a variety of needs. However nicotine is a completely optional component, we also stock a HUGE range of Nicotine free e-liquids online and in all of our VPZ stores.

We hope this helps answer any questions you may have in regards to e-liquids, if in doubt or still not sure, don’t forget you can always reach out to us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with any questions.

As always, remember to purchase your e-liquids and hardware from a reputable source - your local VPZ store.
