What are disposable vapes?

Disposable vapes have hit VPZ and they are kicking off like a storm! I’m sure you have heard all about them by now but a little further information about the brand new disposable vape kits keeps everyone informed and might even help you decide if it is something worth trying! Check out some of our key points about these new kits below!

What is a disposable vape kit?

A disposable vape device is just what it sounds like, a device which is designed to be thrown away once all the battery and liquid it comes pre-loaded with has been used up.

They are designed to be the simplest possible way to vape, as they are inhale activated, and feature no moving parts, buttons, screens, settings etc. All you need to do is just puff on the end as you would a regular cigarette, and you’re good to go. They come in a variety of different designs and flavours.

How does a disposable vape work?

Disposable vapes are incredibly easy to use and require minimal effort, there is no charging, topping up or coil changing involved, all you need to do is take a draw from the device and it will auto-activate for you hassle free.

How long will a disposable vape last?

Disposables are measured in “puffs” (an inhale and exhale) and this will be specified on the packaging and product page for each device. We have seen devices average anywhere between 300 - 500 puffs depending on brand. The exact number of puffs you get will depend on your own personal usage and how long each one of your puffs is.

Who are disposable vapes suitable for?

Disposable vapes are suitable for those looking for a hassle free device that requires no maintenance and those that may have forgotten to take their reusable vape kit with them! We find that as the disposable vapes are MTL and filled with a high nicotine based e-liquid they are most used by customers that prefer a cigarette style draw and that require a higher nicotine strength to keep the cravings at bay.

So what’s the downside?

There are three main downsides:

Compared to any other type of e-cigarette, disposables are by far the most expensive option. The extra cost is a trade-off for the convenience, ease of use and portability that they offer. A pre-filled pod such as VOOM Flavour Pods for example will usually work out to be at least half the price if you’re using it for more than a day or two, and one of our refillable kits such as the Innokin T18E-II vape kit will work out to a fraction of the cost to run, especially in the long run. If you’re planning on using disposables for more than a few days, we’d highly recommend you look at our other more economical options and see what might be more suitable, or speak to one of our E-Cigarette Specialists online or in-store for more advice.
Due to the intentionally disposable nature of these devices, they create a lot of plastic and battery waste which as of yet is not possible to be recycled.
The current vape market is flooded with illegal disposable ‘vape bars’ that contain very high levels of nicotine (over the legal limit of 20mg as maximum in the UK) and devices which have not been tested nor approved by the UK MHRA and as such should not be sold in the UK.
